This fancy little flower is called a maypop. If you’ve ever seen one grow, you know it’s confident in many ways, but especially in its self-expression. Just look at those petals! A perfect representation of beauty and creativity.

In addition to its intricacy, the maypop plant loves to gracefully vine and spread. (We like to think of it as making new friends.) It’s natural inclination to entwine, grow and expand mirrors our mission to cultivate a supportive and inclusive space for folks to gather and learn. Like the maypop’s delicate tendrils reach out in unity, we too believe in the beauty of our surroundings and seek to form connection and community with those who feel the same.

The plant is also known as a passionflower for its symbolism of passion and transcendence. In some cultures, the plant’s juicy fruit is used as an herbal remedy to bring about relaxation and peace. All of these qualities of our namesake are honored at the Maypop studio as we teach and practice traditional handcrafts with intention.
